What is Spiritual Psychology

Also known as transpersonal psychology, it's a discipline that focuses on understanding human mind & behavior and its relationship with the spiritual dimension.
It's the practice of conscious awakening i.e. awakening into who we truly are. There are 3 essential questions that each one of us wonders about at some point in our life:
- Who am I?
- Why am I here and what is my purpose?
- How can I make a more meaningful contribution? How can my existence make a difference in this lifetime
I have often wondered about these but as I grew older and specially post the pandemic is truly when my spiritual journey began. Through my travels, reading various philosophies, meditation and interacting with people who are on a similar journey I have learnt so much not just about myself but also how to go within to seek answers. All the answers lie within us, all we need to learn is how to stay quiet and listen to those answers.

Based on the works of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung & Roberto Assagioli it has been defined that humans experience life on four levels:
Level 1 – Physical i.e what you do
Level 2 – Mental i.e. what you think and believe in
Level 3 – Emotional i.e. what you feel
Level 4 – The authentic self love – ability for joy, acceptance and self-compassion
Spiritual psychology seeks to incorporate a broad array of ideas, disciplines, and theories like philosophy, literature, health theories, art, social theory, cognition science, and different spiritual traditions. One should recognise the importance of integrating spiritual with physical and mental reality, that spirituality is but one part of the whole.
As I embark on this journey I decided to capture it all in my blogs. There will be blogs on psychology, spirituality, wellbeing. Hope my learnings in truly trying to understand myself can help some of you :)
Good luck!
